Founded on research of the standardized models in the industry (including PMI’s OPM3, PMI’s PMBOK and SEI’s CMMM), SPM’s best practices model assists clients in effectively developing their organizational maturity in a concrete and expeditious manner.
The model provides a practical view across 4 maturity areas: strategy, portfolio, program and project using 3 key organizational enablers: process, people and technology and assesses against 5 maturity levels: Informal (1), Defined (2), Managed (3), Integrated (4), and Optimized (5)
Maturity Areas:
Strategy evaluates formalized management strategy and planning framework and its ability to continuously evolve its decisions and investments to take advantage of the current and future business environment.
Portfolio evaluates the alignment of corporate initiatives to established strategy and the review of the portfolio process which includes identifying, prioritizing, authorizing, management and controlling projects, programs and other related work to achieve the established strategy.
Program evaluates the practices that manage defined programs or a group of related projects managed in a coordinated way to obtain benefits and control not available from managing them individually.
Project evaluates the practices that manage defined projects which are not associated to an established program.
Organizational Enablers:
People: The degree to which organizations can lead and manage change is vital to the success of any organization. From helping people to adapt to changes being introduced, to determine if the right people are in place to make your organization a success are all key factors..
Process: A repeatable process needs to be in place to ensure risk is being mitigated, costs are being managed and tasks are being completed efficiently and on time. SPM blends a creative style with a systematic approach to process assessment and development.
Technology: While having a defined process is vital to your success, having the “right” tools and technology at your disposal is a key enabling factor for any organization.
